In the last couple hundred years, the chemical industries have introduced hundreds of thousands of synthetic chemical compounds into the environment, which have invaded our homes & our bodies - down to our very DNA.  This introductory course on healthy living offers an explanation of why we should go chemical-free by providing a unique historical perspective on the chemical industries and why their products became so ubiquitous in the modern world.

It is important to understand where these products come from.  For example, most people don't realize that most synthetic chemicals are petrochemicals - or derived from petroleum. This is problematic because in the process of creating chemicals from the hydrocarbon molecule of fossil fuels, a whole host of free radicals were created as well. Free radicals are the reason for the oxidative stress and inflammation than underlies  nearly all degenerative disease, and even underlies the ageing process itself. The carbon atom also has a propensity to uncontrolled growth, the same trait that characterizes a cancerous tumor.  Cancer is now an epidemic - destined to afflict 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women in the United States.  These numbers are astounding and can only be understood if the source of chemical products and a little chemistry are understood as well.

Just as humans in the past exposed themselves to substance like lead, mercury, and asbestos, without realizing their toxicity, humans today are exposing themselves daily to highly hazardous and dangerous substances. This course covers the worst of these toxins that should be avoided and that have no place in a healthy lifestyle.
